I originally posted this in Da Chuch's vault discussion but wanted to open it up for feedback.
Here's our attenpt at the AWB tune Pick Up The Pieces. I threw in a Blusha Blusha Blu at 1:24 too
http://s16.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2...D2KUT5P1PI7WGN
As I listen, I feel myself pushing and pulling too much from section to section. BUT, I put a meter on the original recording and it's all over the place, so I don't feel quite so bad.
This is the audio from a video camera by the sound booth, outside.
Enjoy!

Happy New Year Pocket!
Here's a version less than 500K in size...

Again, I'd love to get some feedback either way.

Hi. I cover this song too in my band. Your band is better though.... we are more of a funk/prog rock act who likes to throw that tune in for the dancers. I like playing it though. Listening to your playing, i realize that maybe i play too many notes. Ill have to watch for that. It was very nice to be able to hear someone elses playing on the same tune. Different approaches and stuff that you can see. Thanks for the post man.

Danny boy!! Well done!! Sounds great!! Why can't I get my cam corders sound to sound like that?? Do you use auxillary mics with the camera??
I can hear the push/pull thing you're talking about. Man... the only thing I can tell you is that you just need to play "time" and play it until you're blue in the face. Playing stuff on my home stereo/PA, especially Gadd, made me play time much better. Albums/CD's that were metronomically correct like Mariah Careys 1st album is good for "time". Do you feel like the bass player may be running away with the bass lines also??
I played in a band where the guitarist used to drive me nuts with his time. Always having to "hold the line" when it came to "time" in the band. Really got old after a while.
Maybe part of it may be that you're a part time drummer like I am?? Don't have that much time to practice anymore with a family, wife, kids, and a job?? But don't worry man!! You sound great. Better than 50% of the players that do this stuff for a living!!!
See you soon buddy!!!

Overall, it sounds good, drums sound nice. The feel is good, but the tune itself is rushed and never really 'sits'. That would be my critique, overall, you rock Danny!
Just try not to let the adrenaline get to you or let the other band members dictate, it seems you're not holding them back.

I think this sounds great...if I were to critique, it would be that the bass player is pushing. He's rushing the last part of his bass line ("ah of 2 and 3 "and"). It's probably making you play a little hurried without you realizing it. It's subtle, but it's affecting the feel. The figures are rushed a little bit by the whole band- again, I don't think it's you- just the excitement of playing the tune and the other band members....the tune needs to be slowed down a hair so it can swing a little more...but we're splitting hairs here...it sounded great!

Hey ladanny! Good job, man! I have to agree, it feels like your pushing it a little bit the entire song... You?re making a good job, but slowing down the tempo, the song would breath a little better....
The sound is really good for being just the minidv!

Thank you everyone for the feedback.
John and Randy, you guys hit it on the head. The tune never "sits" right at all. This tune in particular, I felt like I was being pushed by the bass AND guitar, and the sax in some parts. Plus, during the solo "verse" section, the bass player and I are both pushing it too much. And the tempo is too fast in general.
John, I'm just using a Sony MiniDV camera with the built-in mic. The PA mix was really good though.
